Phil Donoghue Celebrancy Services

You really can have the Wedding Ceremony of your dreams with a Wedding Celebrant.

Why use a Wedding Celebrant?

When you decide to get married, you start to think about the sort of Wedding Ceremony you will have.  Maybe your dream is to have the full 'White Wedding' in your local church, with the hymns and traditional words of the Marriage Service, a choir and church bells to greet you as you leave.  If so, then you will contact your local church amd make the arrangements.

If on the other hand you decide that you do not want a church wedding, your only option is to have a Civil Ceremony conducted by a Registrar.  This can take place at the local Registry Office, normally in the Council Offices, or there are some 'licensed' premises where the Registrar will come and conduct the Wedding.

Registrars, however, have strict legal restrictions on where they can marry people and the content of the Ceremony; for example they can only conduct a ceremony in the specified licensed room in the hotel or venue and not anywhere else on the premises.

They also will refuse to include any religious content whatsoever including hymns and religious readings or prayers; we have even heard of one Registrar who would not allow Robbie Williams' "I'm Lovin' Angels Instead" because it was considered to be religious!

Now there is a dream alternative!

With a Wedding Celebrant you will have exactly the wedding of your dreams, including any music, readings, prayers & blessing, your own wording for the vows, declarations and exchange of rings; and it can take place anywhere you like, even your own back garden or the beach if you wish.

As your Wedding Celebrant, Phil will:
  • design and write the Ceremony you want

  • deliver the Ceremony in the style you want without any legal restraints

  • hold the Ceremony in the location of your dreams

  • include elements not permitted by Registrars, such as religious material and words reflecting your faith and beliefs

  • help you to select the music and readings and to write your own personal and special vows to each other

Phil will act as your Wedding Celebrant for:

Traditional bespoke Marriages

Civil Partnerships

Renewal of Vows

  • Wedding Celebrants do not legally marry you, so you will still need to attend a formal Registry Office Marriage, which can be held earlier in the day or even a day  before the Celebrant led 'Wedding' which your family and friends will witness.
